Hyperbody looks back at a successful hosting of Prof. Hongyuan Mei as distinguished visiting professor at the Faculty of Architecture, TU Delft, for the period of 15th of Dec to 25th of Dec, 2013. Prof. Hongyuan Mei is the dean of architecture department of Harbin Institute of Technology, China (HIT), head of the design institute of HIT, chief scientist of cold region architecture research & design committee of China, master of architecture design of China.
Prof. Mei and HIT has a long established friendship and collaboration with Prof. Oosterhuis and hyperBODY, the joint activities includes:
- lecture of Prof. Oosterhuis at HIT, year 2011,
- visit of Prof. Mei at TUD, year 2011,
- hyperBODY workshop at HIT, year 2011,
- joint workshop (with both TUD and HIT students) at TUD, year 2012,
- joint CEP research funding application, year 2013.
- Set up a HIT-TUD joint Building In Extreme Climates research center.
the HIT-TUD joint research center is a research/education/communication initializing, coordinating and conducting research/education/exchange programs between both parties. This research center will be financially supported by HIT, and seek official recognition by both parties at a department level. - TUD and HIT collaborate on the JSTP application.
- Prof. Oosterhuis and Prof. Mei agree to collaborate on the JSTP application, JSTP is an NWO research project that sponsors joint research collaboration with China in the scope of scientific thematic research. Dutch research team participates the 12-5 research project of HIT.
- Prof. Oosterhuis will be invited to visit HIT in March 2014. Oosterhuis suggested to invite Prof. Van der Dobbelsteen as well since he is a leading expert in Climatic Design.
- HyperBODY team provides design workshop at HIT on March 2014.
This workshop focuses on the topic of designing climates as the basis for architectural design concepts using parametric design methods.
