SocialGlass is among the selected projects to be presented at 'De Veranderende Stad' (The Changing City) Exhibition in Amsterdam.
The official opening of the exhibition will take place on Thursday, November 12, 2015 in Rokin 93, 1012KM in Amsterdam.
The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the Team 'Stad in Balans' and the Municipality of Amsterdam, as part of the 'Week van de Stad' (the Week of the City) and it will remain accessible to the public until Saturday, November 14, 2015.
About the ExhibitionChanges are constant in cities. Amsterdam has faced numerous changes with regard to economic, demographic, and technological innovations. These respectively resulted into changes in the use of the city. We are now standing in front of such a major change. For the first time since the early 1900s we see e.g. that the housing occupancy increases once again. We also move, as well as spend our free time in different ways than we used to. The city grows larger and ensures success and well-being. However, there is also a downside to it. The Municipality of Amsterdam has gathered different projects in collaboration with various companies and academic institutions that allow the city to be seen through quantifiable measurements and diverse data visualizations. Nowadays, a lot of companies collect data, but most of the times these datasets are not mutually comparable. Bringing together different sources of data helps us understand how a city is used, by whom, where, and when. By gaining insights into the rhythm of the city we are allowed to think about new and intelligent solutions that will keep the city attractive.
