Smart Textiles Workshop: Hyperbody and Smart Textiles at the University of Borås
Hyperbody, TU Delft and the The Swedish School of Textiles, University of Borås, Sweden embark on a week long mission to develop Architectural scale Smart Textile applications. The week long workshop begins on the 8th of June at the University of Borås and is an applied research initiative initiated by Dr. Nimish Biloria (Asst. Prof. Hyperbody) and Dr. Delia Dumitrescu (Program Director, Textile Design, University of Borås). Hyperbody students Bob Heester, Dimitra Dritsa, Esther Slagter, Marien Teeuw and PhD researcher Jia Rey Chang comprise the team sent for the collaborative workshop. From the Smart Textile team Marjan Kooroshnia, Delia Dumitrescu and Hanna Landin are participating in the workshop.
The workshop, is intricately connected with the EU Project: METABODY and involves the computational design and development of interactive skin systems for an intelligence driven self-adaptive pavilion structure currently being developed for this EU culture project.
Extensive research in material systems, topology optimisation, weaving patterns and fibre directionality, integrating (knitting) sensing, actuation and control systems within the textiles, thermo-chromic textile based applications, computation numerically controlled fabrication etc shall be a part and parcel of the research and design workshop.
